In the industry, acetone is mainly used as a solvent in sectors such as explosives, plastics, rubber, fibers, leather, oils, and paints. It also serves as an important raw material for synthesizing ketene, acetic anhydride, iodoform, polyisoprene rubber, methyl methacrylate, chloroform, and epoxy resin.
3. Usage Precautions:
Acetone is extremely flammable and poses a risk of poisoning and irritation. Its vapors can form explosive mixtures with air and ignite easily in the presence of open flames or high heat, leading to fire or explosions. It reacts strongly with oxidizing agents. Being heavier than air, acetone vapor can spread over considerable distances and ignite upon encountering a fire source. Under high heat, containers may increase in pressure, risking rupture and explosion. According to the classification and labeling of dangerous chemicals (GB 13690-92), acetone is classified as a Class 3.1 low flash point flammable liquid.
