1. Product Properties:
Isopropyl acetate is a colorless transparent liquid with a fruity odor. It is highly volatile and miscible with most organic solvents such as alcohols, ketones, and ethers. At 20°C, it is soluble in water at a concentration of 2.9% by weight. The substance is flammable and its vapors can form explosive mixtures with air. Exposure to open flames or high heat can cause combustion and explosion. It reacts vigorously with oxidizing agents. Its vapors are heavier than air and can spread over considerable distances at lower levels, where they may be ignited by open flames. Combustion (decomposition) products include carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and water.
2. Product Applications:
(1)Primarily used as a solvent for coatings and printing inks. It is also a commonly used dehydrating agent in industrial applications, an extraction agent in pharmaceutical production, and a component of fragrances.
(2)It is mainly employed as an extraction solvent for pharmaceuticals, a solvent for coatings and printing inks, and a solvent for chemical reactions. The product has a fruity aroma, which, when diluted, resembles the scent of apples. Naturally occurring in fruits like pineapples, pears, and cocoa, it is approved for use as a food flavoring in China (GB2760-86).
