*Solubility: Miscible with ethanol, ether, benzene, chloroform, and oils. Soluble in four parts water, but solubility decreases with rising temperature.
2. Application Fields:
MEK is miscible with various hydrocarbon solvents and is widely used in industries such as magnetic tapes, synthetic leather, coatings, adhesives, and inks. Additionally, MEK can be used as a solvent for dewaxing and deoiling refined lubricating oils and paraffin. It is also used in the production of chemical products like methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, methyl isobutyl ketone, MEK oxime, diacetyl, and methyl violet. MEK is extensively used as a fragrance, catalyst, anti-peeling agent, antioxidant, and corrosion inhibitor.
3. Usage Precautions:
MEK is low in toxicity but highly volatile and flammable. Its vapor can form explosive mixtures with air, and at high concentrations, it has narcotic effects. Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse away from fire and heat sources. Storage temperature should not exceed 30°C. Keep the container sealed. MEK should be stored separately from oxidizing agents, reducing agents, and alkaline substances, and mixed storage should be avoided. Use explosion-proof lighting and ventilation facilities. Prohibit the use of equipment and tools that can generate sparks. The storage area should be equipped with leak emergency handling equipment and suitable containment materials.
